Dragon 100 Young Chinese Leaders Forum
龍匯100華人青年領袖論壇
Official Site : Alumni Site : 2011 Application Guidelines : Nomination Form : Factsheet
Organizer: The Dragon Foundation

Official Program Objective: "The DRAGON 100 programme was established in 2002 as a platform for sharing views, generating synergy and providing stimulus for young Chinese with potential to work together enthusiastically with shared commitment to improve the societies to which they belong.

Programme Foci:
- The Programme will be held in conjunction with the Dragon Series of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Our 100 delegates will go to Taiwan for a 6-day tour together with other 400 participants from the Dragon Series programme.
- All participants will join part of the “30 Hour Famine”* activity organized by World Vision Taiwan and perform in Mega Dragon Dance together.
- All delegates will take part in community service at Ma-Jia Farm in Pingtung County, Southern part of Taiwan.
- Delegates will also visit to major historical and cultural development projects interest; attend seminars and discussions with academics, university students and young professionals.
- Cultural and social activities will also be arranged."

Program Eligibility: "Apart from having Chinese ethnicity, candidates must be aged between 18 and 35 and must be nominated by universities or other educational institutions, organizations and/or corporations."

Number of Participants: "100 (including ethnic Chinese youth leaders from HKSAR, Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, other Southeast Asia countries & elsewhere in the world)"

Program Duration: July 24 August 1, 2011. Hong Kong (3 days) and Taiwan (6 days).

Cost: 700 HKD for HK residents. Non-HK residents pay no fees, but they must get themselves to and from Hong Kong on their own.

Admission Difficulty: Likely competitive. An official nomination from some type of official body is required to attend.

Repeat Participants? Probably unlikely.

Application Deadline: May 7, 2011.

The Low-Down: Unlike the other programs on this list, to participate in Dragon 100 you need to be nominated by some type of "official" organization, such as a university institution or corporation. The average age of participants is reportedly slightly older than that of "average" university undergrads, but the application (nomination) form seems to be designed for a high-school or early-university student level, and may be somewhat difficult to fill-out for those who have already entered the workforce. That said, the 2011 program is being held in both Hong Kong and Taiwan, which are both fun to visit, and with the absence of any competing programs (namely CSP), Dragon 100 seems positioned to take the reign as the preeminent, broad-audienced, free program for "elite" young Chinese adults based out of Hong Kong.
