Official Program Objective: "The Republic of China (Taiwan) is a warm and friendly country. In celebration of the 100th Anniversary since its establishment, the Republic of China will invite outstanding individuals to visit Taiwan and participate in a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ROC, and experience the diverse lifestyles in Taiwan."

Program Eligibility:
"- Elite internationals aged between 18 and 40, male or female. Those who have had experience in participating in international competitions and international events, have received awards, and made special achievements in certain areas, or have higher profiles will have priority.
- Fluent in English/Chinese (either one).
- Proficient in using blogs, Facebook, and Twitter."


Number of Participants: 250 participants from 100 countries.

Program Duration: August 12-25, 2011.

Cost: Believed to be none.

Admission Difficulty: There were over 1000 applications for 250 spots.

Application Deadline: April 15, 2011.

Repeat Participants? Not applicable.

The Low-Down: This was a one-time program organized in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the R.O.C. The deadline for application has passed. Participants resided via homestay with local residents while participating in anniversary activities across the island. Adept use of social networking sites (Facebook, Blogger, Twitter, etc.,) was a criteria for selection, and participants were expected to broadcast their experience to the world via these sites.
